The Wisconsin Supreme Court has suspended former President Donald Trump’s attorney, Jim Troupis, from a state judicial ethics panel. This comes a week after Troupis was charged with a felony by the Wisconsin state judiciary.
The suspension has sparked debates among liberal advocates who have been calling for Troupis’s resignation from the Judicial Conduct Advisory Committee. They argue that his involvement in advising Republicans to cast electoral votes for Trump, despite his loss in the 2020 election, makes him unsuitable for the position.
Troupis, along with Kenneth Chesebro, another Trump attorney, and former Trump aide Mike Roman, were charged by state Attorney General Josh Kaul for their participation in the fake electors plot. Troupis did not respond to requests for comment regarding the suspension.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court, in its order, notified Troupis and the judicial advisory committee of his temporary suspension from the panel, effective immediately. However, the court did not provide a specific reason for this decision. Notably, Justice Rebecca Bradley, one of the court’s conservative members, did not participate in the decision.
Troupis, a former judge, has been a member of the judicial committee since 2020 and was reappointed to a second three-year term 15 months ago. The committee is responsible for providing formal opinions and informal advice to judges and judicial officers regarding compliance with the state’s code of judicial conduct.
