On Monday, a massive sting operation uncovered drivers with commercial licenses issued in New York and California to illegal immigrants, some linked to deadly truck accidents. Oklahoma Governor Stitt announced that he arrested 130 illegal CDL drivers with their driver’s license.
Governor Stitt announced that OHP and ICE went on to I-40 highway in western Oklahoma where there were multiple arrests made. Illegal immigrants from all over the world were taken into custody, along with their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Operation Guardian, is a coalition to detain and reduce the effect of criminal illegal aliens on Oklahomans. Part of the operation is the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) safeguarding the Oklahoma highways.
Governor Stitt mentioned that these drivers had CDL’s from “sanctuary states” and came from countries such as “India, Uzbekistan, China, Russia, Georgia, Turkey, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Mauritania.” (RELATED: Trump Administration Rolls Out Sweeping Work Visa Reform)
“If New York wants to hand out CDLs to illegal immigrants with ‘No Name Given,’ that’s on them. The moment they cross into Oklahoma, they answer to our laws,” said Governor Stitt according to Oklahoma News 4.
Unfortunately, tragedy has struck with these illegal immigrants CDL drivers across the country already.
In August, an illegal immigrant obtained a CDL in California to which he was driving a shipment in Florida and ended up killing 3 people after making an illegal u-turn. (RELATED: Crime Stats in Question: Suspects Misclassified as White Across U.S.)
In California, a crash on the highway with another illegal immigrant with a CDL left a family’s 5-year-old with critical injuries. The driver failed to stop and caused a multiple car pileup. Where Dalilah Coleman was airlifted to the nearby children’s hospital where she spent a month, most of it in a coma.
“We never did receive anything back from the governor. We never received a call back. We never received a ‘governor’s going to look into this.’ We didn’t receive anything,” Marcus Coleman told Fox’s America’s Newsroom Thursday.
Republicans have tried their best to stop these accidents from happening, from Oklahoma’s Operation Guardian, to Senator Marshall (R-KS) introducing legislation to make an English proficiency test mandatory on CDL applications.
