In the wake of the recent Minnesota Church shooting, shooter identifying as a transgender woman, is leading Attorney General Pam Bondi to consider the ban of transgender gun ownership.
The shooter was born Robert, but changed his name after legally becoming a woman as a minor. His mother signed off on the change. The shooter killed 2 children and injured more at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis last week. This shooting is the second in two years after a woman identifying as a man, targeted a Christian School and children in Tennessee. “Individuals within the DOJ are reviewing ways to ensure that mentally ill individuals suffering from gender dysphoria are unable to obtain firearms while they are unstable and unwell,” one source inside the Justice Department told The Daily Wire.
In a statement to CNN, the Justice Department said it “is actively evaluating options to prevent the pattern of violence we have seen from individuals with specific mental health challenges and substance abuse disorders. President Trump has made similar actions earlier in the year as he signed his executive order to ban transgender enlistment into armed forces. After being upheld by the supreme court in May, some DOJ members believe this legislation could ride on the coattails of that order.
