A Wisconsin Congressman is calling for Dane County to lose all federal funding in the aftermath of a drunk driving accident perpetrated by an illegal immigrant that resulted in the tragic death of two people.
Representative Tom Tiffany, R-WI said that there ‘must be consequences’ as the county has still refused to honor an ICE detainer to deport 30-year-old Noelia Martinez-Avila who allegedly killed two teens while intoxicated in a car accident.
The news quickly drew outrage from Wisconsin Republicans and Trump administration officials in ICE, who accused Dane County of being a ‘sanctuary jurisdiction’ and said they have released violent criminal illegal immigrants in the past, per a statement released shortly after the incident.

Tiffany is expressing support for a policy that the Trump administration has already rolled out to cut off some funding for sanctuary cities that limit cooperation with federal authorities for ICE detainers.
That policy is currently tied up in court as thirty-four cities and counties have joined a lawsuit kicked off by the state of California.
Wisconsin has continued to find itself in the national spotlight due to immigration related incidents where government officials refuse to cooperate with ICE. (RELATED: Wisconsin State Bar Abandons Race-Based DEI in Legal Settlement)
In May, a Milwaukee County Circuit Judge was arrested after ICE agents showed up to her courtroom seeking to arrest an illegal immigrant. The judge allegedly helped the illegal immigrant and his attorney escape through a jury room door.
