Nate Pollnow announced his intention to run for Wisconsin Secretary of State to a crowd of more than 120 people last week, running on a platform of transparency and accountability.
Pollnow, who is a lifelong resident of Wisconsin, farmer, and small busienssman said that he was running to keep citizens of Wisconsin better informed and to make sure that the state stays accountability to its residents.
“I think our state’s founders meant for the Secretary of State to be the Secretary FOR the state,” Nate said in announcing his campaign. “Its role is to inform you, the people, where your money goes and what your government is doing to you.
Pollnow leaned on his experience as a farmer and entrepreneur, saying that he would bring his no nonsense attitude to Madison to clean up waste and corruption in the government. (RELATED: New Richmond Schools Face Title IX Flashpoint Over Girls’ Locker Room Privacy)
“And I don’t know about you, but I think we need that now more than ever, because our government is a mess. If I can do it on my farm, Wisconsin can count on me to clean up the BS in Madison.”
Pollnow was joined by Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt, who introduced him and announced his endorsement, echoing the transparency centric theme of his campaign. (RELATED: Nuclear Power Tax Credit Bill Passes Wisconsin Assembly with Broad Support)
“Nate isn’t running to keep a chair warm. He’s running to restore relevancy, transparency and backbone to an office in Madison that Madison has tried to sideline” Schmidt said.
If Pollnow wins, he would be the first Republican to hold the office of Secretary of State in more than 50 years. Pollnow is the first Republican to announce their candidacy for the 2026 Secretary of State race, though there will likely be more candidates ahead of the June 1st filing deadline.
