The Milwaukee Brewers are returning to the World Series for the first time in 44 years after completing a four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The dramatic 6-4 victory clinched Milwaukee’s first National League pennant and its second World Series appearance in franchise history. The Brewers last reached the Fall Classic in 1982, when they were members in the American League and lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games. Shohei Ohtani broke his home run drought with a three-run blast off Dustin May in the second inning, giving the Dodgers a 4-0 lead. William Contreras and Jake Bauers delivered consecutive doubles in the fourth, with Bauers driving in two runs. David Hamilton’s RBI single in the fifth narrowed the deficit before Bauers drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game.
In the sixth, Garrett Mitchell hit a go-ahead solo homer against Tanner Scott, giving Milwaukee its first lead. Hamilton added insurance in the ninth-inning with a homer off Edwin Díaz. Aaron Ashby finished three scoreless relief innings to slam the door.
Jake Bauers earned the NLCS MVP after his clutch performances across the series. Jake had a .286 batting average, with an OPS .983. He drew a crucial 13-pitch walk in Game 2 versus Yamamoto that led to a Brewers scoring streak and had a home run in Game 3 that propelled the Brewers to the win. Beyond the stat line, Jake put up quality at bats and made the necessary defensive plays to keep the Brewers in it. (RELATED: Crowley Under Fire After Inmate Tablet Program Fails to Protect Victims)
The Brewers will host Game 1 of the World Series on October 23 at American Family Field, facing either the Cleveland Guardians or Tampa Bay Rays. The Crew will be seeking their first World Series title. If the Brewers win the 4 necessary games, this will be the first time the city of Milwaukee has been host to a World Series Champion team since 1957.
