On Saturday, President Trump, in association with Israel, permitted strikes on multiple targets in Iran including the capital, Tehran. Of those targets, was the compound of which Ayatollah Ali Khamenei resided.
President Donald Trump posted on social media and claimed the operation killed Khamenei. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also spoke out saying that strikes would continue, with a focus on Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities.
The strikes caused significant casualties and damage according to Iranian officials and state media. Iran then launched retaliatory missile strikes and drone attacks toward regional targets connected to the U.S. and Israel.
The strike has drawn approval from Wisconsin lawmakers. Senator Ron Johnson reposted President Trumps overnight address on X, with the quote “May God bless and protect our troops as they attempt to liberate the long suffering people of Iran.”
Senator Tammy Baldwin posted on X that President Trumps strikes were “illegal,” despite not responding when President Obama struck Iran without the support of Congress. (RELATED: Vice President J.D. Vance Campaigns in Wisconsin to Boost Van Orden, Tiffany)
In response to these claims, Rep. Derrick Van Orden took to X as well to dispel these misconceptions of executive ability. “Any member of the United States Government that is siding with the rogue Iranian regime over the United States needs to resign from office immediately,” said Van Orden via X. Van Orden also posted a summary of the “War Powers Act” defending the President’s actions.
Most notable from the Democratic side, have been criticisms from gubernatorial candidates Francesca Hong and Mandela Barnes. Barnes claimed on his X account that “Trump continues to break every single promise he made to the American people.”
In 2015, Barnes made a post wishing the Supreme Leader “a most wonderful year for you and yours.” An odd post to make for a man who made a career of publicly executing his own people and killing Americans. Barnes also mentions praying for “all the U.S. service members and peace in the region,” which will come sooner rather than later with the death of the Supreme Leader, thanks to President Trump.

Francesca Hong, a socialist who is one of the Democratic front runners for the gubernatorial race posted a lengthy thread on X as well. Hong, claims “It is now common practice for the Trump regime to put American lives in harm’s way both at home and abroad.” It is noted that the Supreme Leader was responsible for the death of thousands of Iranians in the weeks leading up to his death.
As the Democrats continue to label this move by the administration an “illegal war,” Iranians are celebrating in the street as they have a glimpse of hope in reclaiming their country. (RELATED: Trump Highlights Immigration, Economy in State of the Union Address)
