The Milwaukee Brewers have finally put away the Padres in what was a nail-biter NLDS to move on and face the Dodgers.
In a late night game on Wednesday, the Milwaukee Brewers beat the San Diego Padres to officially win the National League Division Series three games to one. The Crew started California native Robert Gasser, who was one of the key pieces acquired in the Josh Hader trade in 2022. The trade also brought over Padres prospect Esteury Ruiz, who the Brewers moved in a three-way trade that brought All-Star William Contreras to Milwaukee. (RELATED:Got Milk? Madison Says Not So Fast)
The Brewers snapped their 12 consecutive postseason away game losing streak, which dates back to the 2018 Brewers NLCS run versus the Dodgers. The last time a postseason game was won on the road by the Crew, it was also against Walker Buehler who was a Dodger at the time. The series was mentally taxing as most of the games were played within no more than 2 runs.
Christian Yelich, the newly appointed Brewers captain, led the sputtering offense posting a .357 batting average, and .900 OPS. Despite his lackluster stats, Jackson Chourio came up clutch with big hits in game one, two and four that helped seal the deal for the Brewers. The Brewers bullpen provided exceptional support, as well. Through the entire series, they allowed one earned run through 19 innings.
The Brewers will rematch against the Los Angeles Dodgers, who clinched their NLCS berth with 4-1 win versus the Atlanta Braves. The Dodgers are seeking their third consecutive World Series Championship, and second NLCS win over the Brewers (2025 & 2018). (RELATED:Brewers Finish Historic Season With Franchise-Record 103 Wins)
Clinching a spot this early is crucial for Brewers rest, as the Dodgers will get the same amount of time. Since the Brewers have clinched home field for the entirety of the 2026 playoffs, the first two games will be at American Family Field. They will take place on October 11th and 12th, emphasizing the importance of an early clinch, earning the Brewers three off days instead of one.
