Green Bay Packers legend Donald Driver returned to the ballroom alongside Former Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith and two other former NFL stars for a special episode of Dancing With the Stars.
Nearly two decades after becoming the first NFL player to win Dancing With the Stars, Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith returned to the dance floor on Tuesday. The 57-year-old former Cowboys star participated in the show’s first-ever “Super Bowl Night,” appearing alongside former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver, linebacker DeMarcus Ware and wide receiver Danny Amendola. Driver and Smith joined the show’s opening performance, dancing to Kendrick Lamar’s “HUMBLE.” The special “Super Bowl Night” theme was to promote ESPN’s, ABC’s, and Disney+’s exclusive streaming of the Super Bowl this year. Emmit Smith was the second NFL player to appear on the show following Jerry Rice. However, he was the first to take home the Mirrorball Trophy in season three. Driver wouldn’t appear on the show for 11 more seasons.
Driver would join the show no more than a year before his retirement from football. Professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd and Driver would end up not earning a perfect score all season, sticking around until their freestyle dance where they earned their first perfect score.
Murgatroyd and Driver would be declared the winners of season 14 after their final cha-cha performance. This made Driver the third NFL player in the show’s history to take home the Mirrorball, and the second in 3 seasons.
