Democratic U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore won reelection in Wisconsin’s 4th Congressional District on Tuesday, defeating Republican Tim Rogers and independent Arthur Burks, according to AP.
AP projected the outcome with 80% of the estimated vote counted, Moore had 211,898 votes, compared with Rogers’ 46,301and Burks’ 6,733 vote share, according to AP. Those totals remain unofficial.
The result keeps the Milwaukee seat in Democratic hands. Moore, first elected in 2004 as Wisconsin’s first Black member of Congress, is the longest-tenured member of Wisconsin’s congressional delegation.
Moore, a former state Assembly member and state senator, has focused on affordable housing, curbing predatory lending in minority neighborhoods, aid for small businesses, and access to education and nutrition programs.
Rogers, a Milwaukee native who delivers gift baskets and newspapers for two local businesses, listed universal school choice, criminal justice reform, clean water and lower taxes as his priorities. Burks, a Milwaukee businessman, ran on living wages, gun safety measures and housing.
This was the fifth straight general-election matchup between Moore and Rogers, who has run for the seat every cycle since 2018. Moore won in 2024 with 74.8% of the vote. The district covers most of Milwaukee and some of its suburbs.
Moore will begin a new term on Jan. 3, 2027.
